I Love You, You're Perfect....Now-

Love is definitely the universal language. No matter your age or gender, it’s the one subject where everyone can relate. If you've ever been in love, searched for love, wished for love...you have GOT to hear this song.

I’m a huge fan of the Broadway tunes…and I’ve recently come across my CD of the musical “I Love you, you’re Perfect, Now Change”. The very first song on the disc is testament to how hard/confusing/infuriating love can be….at any age.

No excuses...no, "I don't DO musicals." It's funny, it's relevant and you'll love it. Just try...

Enjoy!

Lovely song. XD Bleh....Mr. Kelly annoys the crap out of me. XD Personality clash. Haha. Nice convo though. Wow...I'm being lazy today. I'm commenting on two posts in one.

kathryn said...

Insanity: HA! I'm glad SOMEONE liked the song....you're the first to formally say ANYTHING about it.
Re: Mr. Kelly...duly noted. I don't care as long as you don't hold it against me.
You're not lazy, honey...you're efficient. Tks for the note!

That was cute, I really liked it. I don’t call it baggage. I call it wisdom and knowledge that I have earned from the school of Life. Without life’s lessons who would we be?

I've been married for 13 years... so this sounds really funny, but I really have no idea what dating is like. I think I might be missing out on something fun/exciting/interesting... but I might be missing out on something scary/frustrating/etc...

Who knows...

kathryn said...

Grandma Andy the Thinker: Yes....WE have a lot of this wisdom & knowledge you speak of. I think it's important for the next generation to realize what they're going thru is nothing new and that they're not alone!

JP:Extremely well put, my man.... Wow...did you marry straight out of middle school? High school? A lot of angst w/dating...that's for sure. Keep visiting...

JP said...

K: I dated in college... but not very much... I don't think I ever got past a 2nd or 3rd date... We graduated college together and moved in immediately after that. A year after we moved in together we got engaged... a year or so after that we got married.

kathryn said...

JP: I do believe we call that a "whirlwind courtship"...but, not really. But, sort of. What the hell do I know? You got married young...what? 23? 24? I've got WAY more questions than answers when it comes to relationships. We may have to start a club.

Very cute! And as you say, relevant!

Dating is painful and angsty in my world. I think I just date the wrong guys. hehe. Stay tuned for a story about Roger Wilco, my brain twin who just doesn't know it yet. ;o)

kathryn said...

Hey Smoog! Song is cute, right?? I'm waiting for Ron over at Vent to see/hear it...I don't know why, but I think he's gonna love it!
Dating is hard! Is this a story about a crush? A brain-twin, eh?
I'll wait with breath that is bated....

Shawn said...

Fantastic!! You are absolutely right - it is funny and relevant. I have only recently begun following your blog and have been thoroughly entertained. Thanks so much!

kathryn said...

Shawn: You are too kind...thank you! It's comments like yours that really make my day! Stop back often...I'll try to keep you entertained! Thanks for the comment!

This is pretty much why I stopped dating. Funny song and glad I listened to it.

Jen said...

Thanks for the musical interlude. Love to come across things like this even though I am not a "musical" fan. I stopped enjoying them after Hello Dolly.

As a former musical theatre major (I have now switched to opera performance.) I must say that this is one of my favorites. So true. :) Good pick!

Hhmm might have to check it out. You can't go wrong with musicals, in my book!

Ron said...

OK...maybe there's something wrong with my computer, but I'm not seeing a widget with music on it?!?!

Am I totally insane?!?!

YES...I'm totally insane.

Anyway...being a theater person I've heard of this musical, but have never heard the soundtrack.

Oh well, you may have to sing it to me over an email....HA!

Hope you had a great day, my friend!

X

kathryn said...

Jen: HA! It IS harrowing...isn't it?

JEN! See? I knew I'd find ppl who aren't into musicals...but you've GOT to appreciate the sentiment...right?

Stef: Thank you! Sound like you enjoyed it as much as I do. Thanks for the comment and follow!

Paige: Give it a listen...it's really worth it!

kathryn said...

Ron!
Are you kidding me?? This is completely unacceptable! I couldn't wait for you to hear it, too....
I'll figure out a way to send it to you, sweetie.
Thanks for *trying* to hear it....

I swear the first time I heard this I thought man was gonna try to get jiggy with woman.

but very funny song, I was watching simpsons when listening to this, Ned Flanders was lip syncing perfectly, I fell off myy chair laughing.

I keep my emotional baggage in a box under my bed, I feed it at night before I go to sleep each night to keep it satisfied.

kathryn said...

Marisol: Hey doll! You're HERE! Oh, I'm so glad you liked it! It was a great show. I'm so glad you commented! xo

evilteenietiff: Oh, you silly girl. Listening to Broadway tunes whilst watching the Simpsons...only you!
Hey...throw that baggage a snickers bar...I just finished feeding mine!
Thanks for the comment!

Great pick! I love so many of your postings. You are both charming and whitty...a treat for us all. I am new to blogging myself and just like Wild Child, would also appreciate any feedback.
Best wishes.

SOME straight guys dig SOME musicals. This one hasn't seen many. Are Avenue Q and Spelling Bee still playing? Dug them both. Saw Depp's Sweeny Todd and was pleasantly surprised. Have an old draft post on this topic (musicals and men)... so what's out there now for guys like me?

Kristen said...

Thanks for the song! Now I really have to look that musical up. I was cracking up as soon as it started, everything they say is so true!

Lou said...

Cute song K, I got a chuckle out of it. I usually read all comments before I add mine but you get just too many these days so I'm probably saying what others already have but keep up the good work, you're making a great job of this blogging lark. I finally got around to googling Clinton Kelly and see he's a celeb - is he your partner? Either way, he sounds adorable.

No-one can deny that both music and sport have a unique value, as forms of a universal language. However I think we should have a spoken one as well :)

WildChild&It;3:Welcome! Love is one of the few things across the board that we can all relate to, don't you think?

Ang: Thanks for the kind words. I try my best, as we all do...to entertain. I hope you'll visit often. Tks for the comment & flw!

Hey Straight Guy! Question: Did you actually listen to the audio clip? Hmmm? Tell me honestly. I think both guys & gals can relate to this song...it's all the angst of dating. I always think I won't like musicals as much as I do-when I wind up w/the soundtrack playing in my car, I realize differently. We'll find you a show: How about "Monster Trucks Find Their Mojo?" I'm gonna quiz you about the above song, tho....

Kristen: Oh, good! I felt the same way...starting smiling at the beginning and it just got better & better. Thanks so much for letting me know!

Hey Lou! Believe me, I can only HOPE it stays this busy here! I'm just loving it...meeting so many great ppl w/same sense of humor as us! I'm glad the song made you smile. Noooo, Clinton Kelly has his own partner in the *real world*, but he knows/approves of being in my head during his free time. He contributes his sharp wit and I try not to let him drive me crazy. Sometimes, he's the loudest voice in my head. I'm guessing that's not so good...

Brian & joyce ndagire: I think it's good manners to leave an appropriate (relevant) comment after reading someone's post. If you're kind and polite, THEN it is acceptable to ask for (altho usually it's a given) that you'll receive a visit back. Same with a follow. Works both ways.

let's see...

we started dating in like February... graduated in May, moved to the east coast together in June... lived together for about a year... then got engaged... we were engaged for about a year before we got married. So we were together for... what 2 1/2 years before we actually got married?

kathryn said...

Sarah Tobyn: I'm glad you liked it. I think that's wise...go w/the optimistic angle....that you'll never need to say that last part. Thanks for the comment!

JP: Like I said...whirlwind, but...not really. 2 1/2 yrs is a decent chunk 'o change...even if you were young.

Momiji chan said...

haha i'm listening to the song and it's very funNY ^^ I like anything that's funny i watch comedy on fridays so i would agree it's a good song ^^ lol ! that's what some girl's do for them self's i think you should just be yourslef ^^

gert said...

Love musicals, loved the song. So when you're dating...you go through all that for the guy. Odd...because I'm married...and I go through all that just for me. Because he really doesn't notice.

Thanks for the giggle.

♥Gert

kathryn said...

saku chan: Thanks for the nice comment! I just wanted to show that love can be "sucky" at any age...under any circumstance! Everyone from my 17-yo niece to my father thought this song was a hoot. I'm glad you liked it!

kathryn said...

gert: HA! Like the song says "...and I did all this for guy I barely know and I'll bet he won't even care....!"

It's a shame we can't figure out how to do it for US while we're STILL dating. It'd be much less traumatic. Thanks for the comment!

Susan F said...

This brought a smile to my face because I used to go to see musicals all the time. Thanks for bringing back some happy memories!
